From Toll Barn Cottage you can explore the Goyt Valley and reservoirs via any of the cycle and walking tracks starting right from the door. The Shady Oak pub is a few minutes walk down the road and a great end to a day of sight-seeing. Further afield all the attractions of The Peak District await. One of the most visited attractions of the Peak District, Chatsworth House will fill a full day out with a vast park and estate to explore, cafes, restaurants, gift shops and a number of events throughout the year.
Haddon Hall is another historic estate to explore with a calendar full of great events and within easy reach of Toll Barn Cottage.
Macclesfield Forest is a excellent place for outdoor activities including horse riding, walking, cycling, fishing and bird watching including the Peak District’s largest heronry at Trentabank Reservoir.
A short drive from Toll Barn Cottage there are a number of towns for supplies and exploring – Whaley Bridge and Buxton are close by for shopping, cafés, restaurants and seasonal events. The small Peak District villages of Tideswell, Bakewell and Castleton (to name a few) are great for walks, historic monuments and local delicacies. The caves at Castleton are a treat for wet weather days.
